Welcome to Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church

We are a lively, loving congregation located in downtown Butler. For 200 years, the people of Saint Andrews have gathered to celebrate God's love through thoughtful worship, caring fellowship, and service to the larger community. We work hard at being an inclusive faith community where people from all walks of life feel comfortable worshiping and working together. We hope you'll take a few minutes to browse our website. Better yet, come visit and let us get to know you. Our worship service is at 10:30 am. May Christ's peace be with you.

Our Vision Statement

Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit our vision is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by members joining together in leadership and learning, to develop Spiritual gifts and to extend these gifts into the community as true servants of God.

Dear Friends,

We are writing with another update regarding worship during these challenging times.

On July 15, Governor Wolf and Dr. Levine, the Secretary of Health, issued new orders to try to curb the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Pennsylvania. The new laws prohibit indoor gatherings of more than 25 people. Though religious organizations and gatherings are exempt from this requirement, our Session has been committed to following public health guidelines for the well-being of our congregation and the Butler community.

So where are we in relation to that 25 person limit? Since we have returned to in-person worship, attendance has been slightly but consistently above 25. Attendance is typically lower during the summer. As we get closer to the fall, our numbers usually increase.

Given those realities, and an abundance of concern for everyone’s health, Session is asking the congregation to adopt a staggered worship schedule. If your last name begins with the letters A – J, we are asking you to attend on certain Sundays. If your last name begins with the letters K – Z, we’re asking you to attend on the opposite Sundays.

Starting in August, we’ll adopt the following schedule:
Group 1 (A – J) is encouraged to worship in-person on August 2, August 16, August 30, September 13 and September 27.
Group 2 (K – Z) is encouraged to worship in-person on August 9, August 23, September 6, and September 20.

Masks and physical distancing continue to be required at all services.

We’re hoping these steps help keep us within the 25 person limit. Our Elders want to assure you that the staggered schedule is encouraged, but not required. If your work schedule prevents you from coming to church on the above Sundays, please come when you can. If you are in Group 1, and you carpool with someone in Group 2, please come on whichever Sundays are best for both of you. If you forget, and come to church on "the wrong Sunday,” please stay and worship.

We understand this is frustrating and we are deeply grateful for your patience and cooperation. The trajectory of the coronavirus remains uncertain, and public health guidelines will undoubtedly change. We will continue to keep you updated as Session responds. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks so much!
