Welcome to Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church

We are a lively, loving congregation located in downtown Butler. For 200 years, the people of Saint Andrews have gathered to celebrate God's love through thoughtful worship, caring fellowship, and service to the larger community. We work hard at being an inclusive faith community where people from all walks of life feel comfortable worshiping and working together. We hope you'll take a few minutes to browse our website. Better yet, come visit and let us get to know you. Our worship service is at 10:30 am. May Christ's peace be with you.

Our Vision Statement

Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit our vision is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by members joining together in leadership and learning, to develop Spiritual gifts and to extend these gifts into the community as true servants of God.

November 18, 2020

Dear Friends,

We are writing with an important update about worship. At our meeting on Tuesday evening, November 17, Session reviewed our current worship policies in light of the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases in the Butler area. After a full discussion,Session voted unanimously to suspend in-person worship starting this Sunday, November 22, 2020.

This decision was not made lightly. None of us like worshiping remotely. We all miss seeing each other and worshiping together. But after considering a number of factors (the move to remote learning by local school districts, changes in policies at Butler Memorial Hospital, the accelerating pace of community spread, and concerns about increasing strain on our local healthcare system) we felt it was necessary to take added precautions for the safety of our congregation and our larger community.

Some notes about upcoming services:

Sunday, November 22, was scheduled to be our second Stewardship service. If you haven’t had the opportunity to bring your pledge card to worship, please feel free to mail it to the church office.

Sunday, November 29, is the First Sunday of Advent. We will mark the beginning of the season by celebrating Communion together remotely. Please plan on sharing the Lord’s Supper with whatever form of bread and juice you have on hand at home.

There are a variety of ways to access our worship services. You can livestream the service on our Facebook page, listen via WBUT 1050 AM at 11:00 am on Sunday morning, or listen to archived services on the church website. The bulletins are also available on the website.

Please continue to hold our church family and our community in your prayers. If you have questions, prayer concerns, or simply need to vent, please don’t hesitate to call Pastor Merry (724-287-4682). We are all worn, tired, and so ready for this to be over. Remember, this is not forever—just for now. Know that you are not alone. We are in this together. And in the deepest darkness, Christ is there, surrounding us with his love, leading us forward to better days.

In Christ’s Love,

Pastor Merry and Clerk of Session Jon McKay
